ST. LOUIS TEACHER FEATURED ON CARDINAL BASEBALL
Dr. Debra D. Peppers and Cardinal baseball great Willie Mcgee are two of the "success stories" being featured together during the KMOX baseball season. Sportscaster, Bob Costas delivers the message that parallels how both Debra and Willie overcame obstacles in their past to achieve great success in their individual professions. As Willie was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame, Debra was inducted into the Teachers Hall of Fame last summer. Mr. Costas includes how both have used their success to better the lives of young people as well as their peers. The radio feature is sponsored by Webster University where Debra is on the faculty, having retired from teaching high school. She was the recent recipient of Webster's Outstanding Alumni Award for 2000. Debra and her husband of 30 years, Ralph "Bud" Peppers, reside in St. Louis where he recently retired as Director of Chemistry for Scientific Associates Laboratories to become her full time manager. They have incorporated their consulting and speaking business into Pepperseed, Inc. As a member of the Saint Louis Chapter of the National Speakers Association, Debra is in high demand nationally as she is featured at both education and business conferences. She hosts a daily three-hour radio program, "Talk from the Heart with Dr. Peppers" as well as being a weekly host on the St. Louis television program See Hear. Debra will be a presenter this fall at the Emmy Awards. Debra is also invited to speak at church conferences and events nationwide to share her personal story of "From Hall of Shame to Hall of Fame". She includes vignettes of growing up during the 50's and 60's and going through her turbulent teen years. Having lost over 100 pounds and having recently received her doctorate degree, Debra encourages others to overcome the obstacles in their own lives. Debra will be sharing her story as the keynote speaker at the National Teachers Conference hosted at Missouri Baptist College this fall.
