Missouri House Resolution Passed Honoring Debra PeppersAccomplishments In The Field Of Education and Community Affairs RecognizedNovember 9, 1999 --
Whereas, Debra Duvall Peppers of St. Louis County, Missouri, started a new chapter in her professionaf life when she retired from the Lindbergh School District after twenty-five years as a highly acclaimed speech, drama, and English teacher; and
Whereas, during her tenure at Lindbergh Hiqh School, Debra Peppers gladly took on the additional responsibilities of drama Club sponsor, Debate Club sponsor, and sponsor for numerous school plays and musicals; and
Whereas, a Lindbergh High School Teacher of the Year and State Teacher of the Year finalist, Debra Peppers' labors of love were acknowledged at the national level through her 1999 inclusion as one of five individuals inducted into the National Teachers' Hall of Fame in Emporia, Kansas, with appropriate media exposure during ceremonies held in Washington, DC; and
Whereas, after her retirement on June 7,1999, Debra Peppers has remained an impressive and influential force in education through her work as a motivational speaker with a national following, an adjunct faculty member who trains future educators at Webster University, local radio celebrity with a show that has been long-acclaimed as 'St. Louis' Most Encouraging TalkShow', author, and consultant for Lee Canter and Associates teaching Assertive Discipline, Succeeding with Difficult Students, Homework Without Tears, and Scared or Prepared.- Violence Prevention; and
Whereas, throughout her impressively effective educational career and service to others, Debra Peppers has enjoyed the tremendous support and encouragement of her befoved husband of twenty-seven years, Ralph, with whom she recently incorporated Salt and Light Ministries:
Now, therefore, be it resolvedthat we, the members of the Missouri House of Representatives, Ninetieth General Assembly, join unanimously to applaud the life and work of Debra Peppers and to extend this legislative body's sincerest appreciation as she continues to proactively engage youths and the educational community after her formal retirement from teaching; and
Be it further resolved that the Chief Clerk of the Missouri House of Representatives be instructed to prepare a properly inscribed copy of this resolution for Debra Duvall Peppers.
