Dr. Debra Peppers Receives National First Place Award in Communications Contest The Missouri Press Women awarded Dr. Debra Peppers first place in the statewide Communications Contest in the Speech category for her speech entitled Stumbling Blocks To Stepping Stones. This award placed Dr. Peppers submission into the national competition representing the state of Missouri in the National Federation of Press Women's Communication Contest. Dr. Peppers has recently been notified that she won first place in the nation. She will receive her award at the national conference which will be held in Bismarck, North Dakota in September. She originally presented this speech to the International Women's Conference held at the Crystal Cathedral in California last October. The speech partly focused on the September 11th tragedy and the judges comments included "very inspiring and personal" and "very effective." Debra is a member of the MPW and the NFPW.
